Opening Narrative

Hello and welcome to another exciting radio program today on end times and prophecies and scriptures to live by... which is all about old-time gospel and worship music, praying for needs and preaching the Word of God....

And remember this radio programs Virtual Church for the Spiritual Unchurched is broadcast every Sunday at 7 am and 7 pm pacific time... and if you unfortunately miss it for whatever reason at any time, you can hear the program any time after that for 4 weeks...at my web site TimingRevelation.com

So, we continue today in the new series started a few weeks ago, based on my book “The Horizontal Chronology of the Four Gospels”...

And I did mention to you before that with this series begins the start of the 8th year of these radio programs Virtual Church for the Spiritual Unchurched.

As you already know In this series we look at the four gospels in a new light as they are presented by chronological events taking place within the four gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John which are presented separately in the Bible ...

It is all the same gospel.... but in chronological order of events taking place, which lets us hear or see side by side who reported and what each said on these events taking place in the gospels.

You will recall if you were with us in the last couple of weeks, there are 9 particular events that we are looking at – if you miss any program at any time, remember, they are replayed on my web site TimingRevelation.com for up to four weeks.

So the 9 events we're looking at in this series are:

#1—Pre-human existence of Christ
#2 – Pre-natal to Jesus's Incarnation
#3-- Birth and Childhood of Christ
#4-- Beginning of Jesus' ministry...

...Which we have covered up to here so far, including Jesus' returning into Galilee, where He healed the nobleman's son in Cana...

So this takes us now to the continuation of our events, still in Part 1 of event #5, Galilean ministry of Jesus, interestingly, where Jesus delivered His longest ministry in terms of time and events taking place...

Future events left to come:
#6-- Judean and Perean ministry of Jesus
#7-- Jesus' last week
#8-- Jesus' last 6 hours
#9-- From the Resurrection to the Ascension

And we will get right to it after this opening music, prayer and worship time...

Prayer
Praise God Doxology
Worship music

Narrative 1

Alright let's pick up from where Jesus prays before leaving for His preaching tour in Galilee... reported by both Mark 1 and Luke 4:

Mark 1, verses 35 to 39

35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.

36 And Simon and they that were with him followed after him.

37 And when they had found him, they said unto him, All men seek for thee.

38 And he said unto them, Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also: for therefore came I forth.

39 And he preached in their synagogues throughout all Galilee, and cast out devils.

Luke 4:42-44

42 And when it was day, he departed and went into a desert place: and the people sought him, and came unto him, and stayed him, that he should not depart from them.

43 And he said unto them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent.

44 And he preached in the synagogues of Galilee.

So as we can see both Mark and Luke have a similar report...

... and Jesus went around Galilee preaching and healing... and we read a further report from Matthew in chapter 4, verses 23-25, on all of this...

23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.

24 And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them.

25 And there followed him great multitudes of people from Galilee, and from Decapolis, and from Jerusalem, and from Judaea, and from beyond Jordan.

So, yes, Jesus was very very busy preaching and performing that which God the father had sent Him to do throughout His ministry. And it's so interesting to read all the names of the towns and places that He went about that we hear so much about today... it's very facinating.

Narrative #2

So we will now begin a reading of the famous “Sermon on the Mount” which took place according to historical records near Capernaum...

There's an interesting commentary in “The Complete Jewish Study Bible” that is very helpful in understanding the depth of this important segment of the Bible. It reads:

“According to noted Messianic Jewish scholar Arnold Fruchtenbaum,” ( a leading expert in Messianic Judaic theology), “in its context—in the jewish frame of reference in which it was spoken—the Sermon of the Mount is the Messiah's interpretation of the standard of righteousness which the Torah demanded, put in contrast with some of the Pharisaic interpretations.”

“A better title for this “sermon” would be “The Messiahs' Interpretation of the Righteousness of the Torah.
“Simplistically stated, the difference is between mere external conformity in contrast to internal conformity that naturally lends itself to external conformity to Torah.”

And interestingly this word conformity reminds me of a long while ago when I was taking psychology, conformity is one of the things that people have most problems with – to conform to society, something interesting, conformity, we have to conform to the word of God, we have to conform to the Torah if we want to live righteously before God.

But that is often the big and real problem in our society today – especially today and getting worse as we speed ever so much more into the end times...

So, let's get into this major segment of the teaching of our Lord Jesus Christ...
starting with the opening verses

1 & 2 of Matthew 5:

1 “And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him:

2 And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,

and next let's read the scriptures that start with the word “Blessed”, -- verses 3 to 11...

Now the word “blessed” here is the Greek word “makarios” (G3107) which is according to the Strong's definition, a prolonged form of the poetical μάκαρ mákar (meaning the same); supremely blest; by extension, fortunate, well off:—blessed, happy(X -ier). “

The Complete Jewish Study Bible adds to this: “The Greek makarios corresponds to the Hebrew asher, meaning “blessed”, “happy”, and “fortunate” all at once, so that no one English word is adequate.”

So in the original Hebrew translated into the Greek, it really means: “Blessed, Happy and Fortunate” all rolled into one... and the original text would be understood by the people as such...

so, continuing with verses 3 to 11:

3 “Blessed (makarios) are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

4 “Blessed (makarios) are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.

5 “Blessed (makarios) are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

6 “Blessed (makarios) (Blessed, Happy and Fortunate) are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

7 “Blessed (makarios) (Blessed, Happy and Fortunate) are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

8 “Blessed (makarios) Blessed happy and fortunate are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

9 “Blessed (makarios) are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

10 “Blessed happy and fortunate are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11 “Blessed (makarios) are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

In other words, blessed, happy and fortunate are you when men shall revile you and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake....

And let's continue on with verses 12 to 14:

12 “Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

13 “Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

Wow, Jesus never minces His words...

14 “Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

Narrative #3

So let's look at the next verses still in the book of Matthew, and chapter 5, verses 15 to 26, where Jesus covers the topics of the light of man, the fullfillment of the law, reconciliation with our brother... etc...

verse 15 “Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

16 “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

17 “Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill.

18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

See the law is still there but Jesus explains it in a new understanding...

19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Wow that's telling the way it is...

21 Ye have heard that it was said of them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:

22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

Again, Jesus speaks very clearly...

The word Raca here means vain fellow or empty head – it was actually an expression of contempt and contempt means disdain, or disrespect, scorn, hate, etc... so we are not to have this kind of thoughts about or against our brothers or sisters...

So let me read those last verses here from the new King James:

23 “Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you,

24 leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.

25 Agree with your adversary quickly, while you are on the way with him, lest your adversary delivers you to the judge, the judge hand you over to the officer, and you be thrown into prison.

26 Assuredly, I say to you, you will by no means get out of there till you have paid the last penny.”

Music interlude...

Narrative 4

Ok, so now we're going to go into a kind of difficult and controversial topic in the next few verses... but it must be read nevertheless...

and I will switch over to my New King James Bible to read from, instead of the Old King James Version that I usually use -- just for ease of understanding...

and we will read verses 27 to 30 where the New King James has given it the heading of

Adultery in the Heart

27 “You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’

28 But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

This verse touches a lot of people. Interestingly, I remember a high ranking scientist who gave his testimony.. where this scripture had been totally instrumental to his repentance to the Lord and becoming saved and forgiven....

someone, a male friend who led him to the Lord, had him read this scripture, and I'll always remember his facial expression on the television program where he spoke, he looked right out there and said “I had never heard of this before, I had never looked at a woman in any other way – meaning any other way than looking at a woman with lust...

And you know that goes for many, many men... I've seen it, I've heard it over and over.
As they say that's life – a life of sin, until we meet Jesus.

And one of the saddest thing about this is that there are many in that very place of adultery even in the Church... there is sin in the camp...

But what is the most critical here is that the Word of God says, if a man – or a woman, it works both way – if a man does that, what that scripture says, look at a woman with lust, he commits adultery by – he commits adultery....

and you know, the Bible is very clear that adulterers do not enter into heaven:

“Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God... “

adulterers are amongs all those as sinner... 1 Corinthian 6:9... and also in the book of Revelation it repeats that again that no adulterers and all the rest of them enter the Kingdom of God....

and that's real my friend if you're listening today, this is no joke...

but in verse 11 of 1 Corinthian 6, it continues in the next verses giving the good news that we can be forgiven of these sins, saying that such “were” some of you, but you are now washed, sanctified, justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God through His blood through His work on the cross...

And in verse 29 and 30 of Matthew 5, it continues:

29 “If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell.

30” And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell.

This shows the gravity of sin... it does not mean that one goes ahead and cut off these members of the body, of course not, but it shows the magnitude and seriousness of the sin...

Oh my dear friends that is the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ... that we can come to Him repenting of our sins... remember earlier in our present series of the story of Jesus ministry, both John the Baptist and Jesus's message was to “repent” and be baptised...

the key word is “repent” -- we need to repent of our sins... we need to realize that we are sinners and that we need a Saviour and Christ is The One -- He died on the cross to wash us, to sanctify us, to justify us, in His name...

oh the depth of this message of Jesus Christ “the anointed saviour”, who came as the Lamb to give His life for each one of us... you, me, every individual that has ever lived and is now living on this earth.... this is big, this is huge...

...that God came in the flesh to do this redemptive work to take away our sin... yours and mine, all of us – the sin of the world -- one individual at a time...

Now we're going to stop here because we're out of time, and pick up from this next week...

... oh how wonderful to appreciate what Jesus has done in our lives to save us from sin by grace, and how He continues to keep us by His on-going and unlimited grace... that wonderful grace that come into our lives the moment that we receive Him as for who He is, the saviour of mankind and every individual like you and me, personally...

and this jesus the son of god who came to give his life for you and me is that same Jesus who's life we've been reading about in these series of programs right now, and who's death we will see as we go through this gospel story to where He gave Himself as the sacrificial Lamb of God what takes away the sin of the world...

Closing Narrative…

Oh how wonderful to appreciate what Jesus has done in our lives to save us from sin by Grace... and how He continues to keep us by His on-going and unlimited Grace...

...that wonderful Grace that comes into our life the moment that we receive Him as for who He is -- the Saviour of mankind and of every individual like you and me personally...

... and this Jesus the Son of God who came to give His life for you and me is the same Jesus who's life we've been reading about in these series of programs right now, and who's death on the cross we will see as we go through the gospel story to where He gave Himself as the sacrificial Lamb of God that took the sin of the world...

...but right now, the question is:

...do you know this Jesus that we're talking about? If you don't know the Lord...

...Just say this prayer, “Lord come into my heart, come into my life, I turn to you right now and ask for forgiveness, I repent of my sins and receive your work on the cross...  I receive your gospel as it was delivered through your blood shed on the cross in my place, and I thank you, Amen...

Before I dismiss the service today, I want to read to you the Blessing that was read to the people of God in Numbers 6:24-26 which is the benediction from God to you today:
